Centrifugal sewage pumps - overview

Classification

Waste water pumps from the manufacturer STROBL Pumpen are horizontal, normal-priming centrifugal pumps or vertical submersible pumps. These water pumps are designed for industry, but are also used in municipal areas.

Construction

The STROBL centrifugal pumps for waste water are designed in block construction for horizontal or vertical installation. A distinction is made between the following installation options (dry, floodable or wet). Base plate versions with motors connected via coupling are also available for horizontal installation.

Depending on the application, different impeller geometries are available. A distinction is made between closed and open channel impellers as well as vortex impellers. In addition, special versions with a front-mounted cutter are available.

The STROBL channel impeller is characterised by large ball passages (20-150 mm depending on the pump size) in relation to its size.

This makes it possible to pump wastewater with large foreign bodies without any problems.

Functionality

Waste water centrifugal pumps from STROBL Pumpen draw in axially and convey the medium to the radially mounted discharge connection.

Power is transmitted from the motor to the impeller via the pump shaft.

The pump head is sealed by a mechanical seal which is designed for robust use in waste water technology.

The delivery pressure as well as the delivery rate are determined by the pump performance (pump characteristic curve), the impeller geometry, as well as the suction- and pressure-side pressure losses of the system. The delivery rate and the delivery pressure can also be varied by speed control or bypass solutions.

Thanks to the design adapted to the requirements of wastewater technology, the pumps achieve long operating times, which reduces maintenance costs.

Applications

The main field of application of the waste water pumps is the pumping of waste water and sewage in industry and in the municipal/domestic sector. Due to the available material variants, it is also possible to pump a wide range of aggressive liquids from the chemical industry.

Due to the large free passages of the different impeller geometries, untreated wastewater with a high solids content can be pumped as well as wastewater with long-fibre constituents, for example from swimming pools.

Wastewater pumps from STROBL Pumpen are used in the following areas, for example:
- municipal/domestic sewage disposal
- compact sewage systems (stationary or in shipbuilding)
- municipal and private swimming pools
- vacuum drainage (toilet stations, refrigerated counters, ...)
- Industrial and plant construction
- Water recycling in the construction industry

Sealing technology

Sealing is done with suitable sealing materials (e.g. NBR, EPDM or FKM), both on the static seals and on the mechanical seals. The sliding surfaces are made of carbon A or SiC (silicon carbide), depending on the design.

Materials

Cast iron, nodular cast iron, bronze, aluminium bronze, chilled cast iron, hardened steel, stainless steel (V4A), duplex, super duplex, super austenite.
